Frequently asked questions about Hajj, Umrah, visas and payment

Umrah
- How long does the Umrah visa take?
- The Umrah visa usually takes 2 to 3 days after we submit your documents.
- How early should I book my Umrah?
- We recommend booking one to two weeks before the departure date. Closer to departure, a place depends on availability.
- What documents do I need for Umrah?
- A passport valid for at least six months beyond your travel date, one clear personal photo, and your yellow fever vaccination book. We check everything before submitting.
- How many people share a hotel room?
- Up to four pilgrims share a room. You can request a private room for an additional charge.
- Are meals included in the Umrah packages?
- Not in the Normal and Premium packages at the moment. If that changes, your quotation will say so.
- How far are the hotels from the Haram?
- Our hotels in Makkah and Madinah are 8 to 15 minutes from the Haram at most.
- Which airline do Umrah groups fly with, and how much luggage is allowed?
- Groups usually fly direct with Daallo Airlines. The luggage allowance is mostly 25 kg.
- Which cities do Umrah groups depart from?
- Most groups depart from Mogadishu. They can also depart from Hargeisa, Garowe, Nairobi and other places. Hajj departs from Mogadishu, Garowe and Hargeisa.
- How big is an Umrah group, and who guides it?
- A group is usually 15 to 25 pilgrims. One guide travels with the group, and our teams in Makkah and Madinah look after you there.
- Can I travel on my own dates instead of the monthly group?
- Yes, when there are enough people. A family can also travel on a date they choose, at a different price.
- Is there a discount for a group or family?
- Yes. Hoggaan offers a discount for groups of more than three people. Contact us for the details.
Hajj 2027
- Can I still register for Hajj 2027 with Hoggaan?
- Hoggaan’s places for Hajj 2027 are full at the moment. Contact us if you would like to be told when a place becomes available.
- What is the price of Hajj 2027?
- The official price has not been announced yet. We expect it around December; this is not confirmed.
- How much do I pay when I register for Hajj?
- An advance payment of $2,000 is made at registration.
- What documents do I need to register for Hajj?
- Your passport and a personal photo.
- Who organises Hajj from Somalia?
- Hajj from Somalia is organised by the Ministry of Endowment and Islamic Affairs, which arranges accommodation, transport and the camps in Saudi Arabia. Hoggaan guides your registration, checks and submits your documents, and accompanies your group as a guide during Hajj.
- What does the Hajj package include?
- Visa, flights, hotels in Makkah and Madinah, transport, meals during the Hajj days, ziyarah, guidance and active on-ground support.
Umrah payment & refunds
- Do I need to pay a deposit?
- Yes, once your place is confirmed. Normal and Premium: $700 to $750. Business: $1,000 to $1,100.
- How can I pay?
- Cash at our Mogadishu office, bank transfer, or mobile money. Always confirm our account details by calling +252 61 9 100000 before you send any money.
- Can a relative abroad pay for my trip?
- Yes. A relative living abroad can pay for you by whichever method suits them. Contact us and we will arrange it.
- Can I pay in installments?
- Selected packages can be paid in installments through SomBank or other available banks. The bank decides who is eligible and sets the terms.
- Will I get a confirmation of my payment?
- Yes. We send you the confirmation on WhatsApp.
- What is the refund policy if I cancel?
- For Umrah, you receive a full refund if you cancel before your visa is processed. After that, only the visa cost is deducted. Issued airline tickets and non-refundable hotel nights follow the provider’s rules. Hajj refunds are made by the Ministry of Endowment on its own terms.
Who can travel
- Can a woman travel without a mahram?
- Yes. Women aged 18 and over can travel in our groups without a mahram.
- Do you accept elderly pilgrims and wheelchair users?
- Yes, and we provide support for them. Please tell us when you book so we can prepare.
- Can I book if I do not hold a Somali passport?
- Most nationalities can book with us, but some are not included. Send us your passport details and we will confirm.
- How long must my passport be valid, and how many photos do I need?
- Your passport must be valid for at least six months beyond your travel date. One clear photo is enough; there are no special rules for it.
Visas & flights
- Which countries do you arrange visas for?
- Somalia, Egypt, Kenya and Uganda, and medical visas for India. For any other country, contact us.
- Do you sell flight tickets to any destination?
- Yes. We issue flight tickets to any destination.

- Yes. Hoggaan Travels is registered in Somalia under License number DTLJQRU, is accredited by the Saudi Ministry of Hajj and Umrah as an external Umrah agent under code 944565, and is registered with the Ministry of Endowment and Islamic Affairs of Somalia as a Hajj and Umrah provider.
